Things to note before booking your Cassis hotel
Before we dive in, we’d like to give you some tips that will help you choose when to visit and where to stay in Cassis.
When to visit Cassis
Cassis is a typical resort town. The town is bustling with life in spring and summer, and there’s plenty to do. In winter, it’s quite sleepy, and therefore most – if not all – hotels in Cassis close their doors from Mid-October or November to Mid-March or April. The same goes for many other local businesses.
Since the tourist season is rather short and hotel inventory is limited, we’d recommend booking early. That’s especially true when you plan your visit in July or August. The best time to visit Cassis is shoulder season when the temperatures are mild enough to go hiking yet warm enough to enjoy the beach or the many terraces.
Where to stay in Cassis
The Port of Cassis counts as the most lively place. If you’re looking to stay close to the action, it’s best to book your Cassis hotel or guesthouse as close to the Port as possible. The further away from the town center, the hillier the landscape.
So, when you opt to stay in the hinterland then you might be faced with an intensive walk uphill to reach it. Then again, you’ll also get to enjoy the best views.
Parking
In the summer months, both holidaymakers and day trippers flock to Cassis, and parking lots often reach their limits. So, if you know you’ll be arriving by car then we’d recommend you to either book a Cassis hotel that comes with parking facilities or pre-book your Cassis parking spot in one of the public parkings.
Guesthouses or Chambres d’Hôtes
There may not be many official hotels in Cassis but there are several fabulous guesthouses or bed and breakfasts. In France, these are called chambres d’hôtes.
The difference is that, officially, a chambre d’hôtes is limited to 5 bedrooms and a capacity of 15 persons. Larger properties are considered hotels in France.
If you like the tranquility of small-scale accommodation, then a bed and breakfast be perfect for you. We’ve included several of these guesthouses in our hotel selection.
