12 exquisite family-friendly luxury hotels in Spain

When making our bucket list of Mediterranean family luxury resorts, I was spoilt with choice. So much so, that I decided to feature all these other hotels that I held onto as well. First up is the country of tapas and paella. Here’s my selection of family-friendly luxury hotels in Spain. Hope you haven’t made all your summer vacation plans yet? 🙂

Prices in July and August are not that easy on the wallet but, even in high season, Spain still offers a lot of value for money. That being said, many luxury family hotels in Spain have heated pools and offer plenty of other activities so you could possibly score a better deal during an extended weekend in May or the last week of June without compromising on amenities.

  1. La Bobadilla, a Royal Hideaway Hotel (Loja, Andalusia)

It’s no coincidence that this one’s first on this list. What a gem! It’s also located in our favorite Spanish region: Andalusia. Cities such as Sevilla, Granada and Cordoba are all within easy reach. So is the beach. And yes, I usually prefer beachfront properties but for exceptional hotels such as this one, I gladly bend the rules. The generous pool and amazing garden would make me forget all about the beach. La Bobadilla counts as one of the best quiet family resorts in Spain.

  1. Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa (Marbella, Andalusia)

You have 5 star hotels and then you have the Puente Romano Beach Resort, which is a class of its own. This hotel offers authenticity allover but it’s also well equipped to offer every traveling family a carefree vacation. Kids are spoiled with choice when it comes to activities. Although I might just take the girls for a spa treatment too. It’s no surprise that this resort earned the CondĂ© Nast Traveler Award for best resort in Spain so it definitely deserves its spot in this list of family-friendly luxury hotels in Spain.

  1. Le MĂ©ridien Ra Beach Hotel (Tarragona, Catalonia)

Located only 40 minutes driving from Barcelona, this hotel offers a stunning beachfront experience. Le MĂ©ridien hotels are known to be very child-friendly and this one is no exception. It is also equipped with a large spa to keep parents just as busy as their kids.

Kids Club & Teens Club. Welcome kit. Spa treatments for the kids. Bike rental. Special menus. A range of activities such as Spanish language lessons and an ice-cream social afternoon.

  1. The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa (Benhavis, Andalusia)

Located only 10 minutes driving from Marbella, this golf hotel is a true family haven. If the large lagoon-style swimming pool won’t keep your family busy then the many on-site activities for children will. There’s even a complimentary shuttle service to both Puerto BanĂşs and Marbella from April to the end of October.

  1. Augusta Spa Resort (Pontevedra, Galicia)

This family-friendly luxury resort in Spain is located in a the Galicia region, less frequented by tourists but oozing charm. That comes with the added bonus of being less expensive than it’s competitors on the east coast. Family-friendly doesn’t even cover the facilities on offer in this resort and it’s just a short stroll from the nearest beach. It’s the kind of place where you’ll feel right at home.

Kids club with workshops, treasure hunts… Children’s spa with dedicated jacuzzi, waterfalls and swimming area. Aqua park. Playground. Dollhouse. Games room. Electric bike rental. Baby Massage. Children’s menu with healthy options. Paddle court.
8 swimming pools: adults only, dynamic pools and the Aqua Park for kids with a heated outdoor pool.
Double premium room for 2 adults + 1 child. Junior suite or Family suite type 1 for 2 adults + 2 children with a king-size bed and a sofa bed. Family suite type 2 for 2 adults + up to 4 kids with a king-size bed, twin beds and a sofa bed. All suites offer cool amenities such as chromotherapy and a playstation.
  1. Hotel Camiral (Girona, Catalonia)

Another one of our family-friendly luxury hotels in the Spain is this stylish hotel, located just north of Barcelona and near Girona, at the site of the renowned PGA Catalunya Golf Resort. What a great home base for visits in the area. The domain looks so meticulously manicured with plenty of space for the girls to run around. The hotel prides itself on the family-friendliness and this is reflected in the many activities on offer.

  1. Hacienda Na Xamena (Ibiza)

Located on the north side of the island, far away from the glitzy nightlife, you find this oasis of tranquility. Amidst the natural park of Els Amunts, perched on a cliff, this gem offers the most spectacular coastal views. If you’re looking for the pure and sophisticated Ibiza, then this is where you’ll find it. The hotel warmly welcomes families but do note that this is a serene resort so it may be more suited for a mother-daughter trip or for slightly older kids.

Highly inviting, free shaped pools. Tennis court. Games room with ping-pong, petanque and giant chess game. Plenty of services for families such as children’s menus and a stroller on request.
2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool, all fresh water pools heated by solar energy.
Double superior or Eden room for 2 adults + 1 child. Family suite or Na Xamena suite for 2 adults + up to 3 children. All rooms and suites are equipped with a jacuzzi. The family suite also includes a hammam and the Na Xamena suite a mini private pool.
  1. Hotel Balneario Las Arenas (Valencia)

This stunning beachfront hotel is our favorite in the city of Valencia. And we’re speaking from personal experience because, even though this list of family-friendly luxury hotels in Spain is in our ‘bucketlist’ category, we’ve tried and tested this specific hotel. It’s posh but still very family-friendly. And the historic center is just a bike-ride away.

Octopus Miniclub with indoor and outdoor activities. Dedicated kids pool. No children’s menu but who needs one in the city of paella? Just order one per table and you can indulge together.

Classic and deluxe room for 2 adults + 1 child. Family room with 1 kingsize bed and 2 twin beds for 2 adults + 2 children.
  1. Marbella Club Hotel (Marbella, Andalusia)

Yet another hotel that oozes family-friendliness. Combined with the hotel’s botanical gardens and a beautiful stretch of beach from where you can walk to the city in 15 minutes, this must be family paradise. Once in royal hands, this was the Costa del Sol’s first luxury hotel. Tempted yet? You should, because the Marbella Club counts as one of the most exclusive family beach resorts in Spain.

115 rooms and suites. 12 luxury villas with private pool.
5000 m² Kids Club including an open kitchen, vegetable garden, art and pottery area, a dance studio, library, music room and even an enchanted forest. Locals can even purchase a membership to access after-school sessions, drama, music, dance, art and computer lessons as well as sports activities year-round. And how about a Master Chef programme?

  1. Asia Gardens Hotel & Spa (Alicante, Valencia)

The name reveals that this hotel doesn’t offer an authentic Spanish hotel experience but anSouth-East Asian oasis instead. It has even earned a nomination for the CondĂ© Nast Gold List in 2018. It offers an exceptional balance between serentiy with child-friendliness and is set amidst a stunning Asian garden. The hotel is part of the BarcelĂł hotel brand and featured in both the Royal Hideaway and Leading Hotels of the World collection.

Pirates Kids Club with a playground with pirate ship and themed parties. Junior Club offering classes in taekwondo, pilates and dance. Ping pong. Mini-dinner service.
7 swimming pools of which 4 are heated from October until May.
Superior Deluxe room with one king and one sofa bed in modern Balinese style for 2 adults + 2 kids with a terrace offering garden and pool views.
  1. Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa (Mallorca)

This gorgeous luxury family hotel on the Spanish island of Mallorca, offers a spectacular setting with views over the Tramuntana mountain range and the Mediterranean. The Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa consists of 11 buildings in traditional style, creating a delicate and intimate vibe, very different from some of the flashy Mallorcan family resorts. The stunning location amidst nature’s delights allows families to explore a different side of Mallorca.

The Barbaroja Kids Club makes your kids feel right at home thanks to the many creative activities, board games and crafts. Personalized cookies for kids. Mallorcan leather sandals made to your kid’s size brought to them by the “elves” (housekeeping staff). Onsite Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy.
3 heated swimming pools: the family pool Sa Talaia, the adult infinity pool and the hydropool which is part of the spa.
The Grand Deluxe Rooms accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children.
  1. Gran hotel Miramar (Málaga, Adalusia)

Last but not least in our list of family-friendly luxury hotels in Spain is this grand beachfront hotel in the heart of Málaga (the Caleta area). Once a hospital and a courthouse, it has been transformed to a
